On Following Jesus
2 minute read
So, you've repented(turned away) from your sins and confessed(agree openly) that Jesus is Lord and Savior of your life. Now what?
Welcome to the adventure of a lifetime.
The greatest news is that you are no longer separated from God.
You have been saved from death and darkness.
You are being saved from your earthly desires.
You will be saved.
What you are promised:
- God is with you (Romans 8:38-39)
- God causes everything to work together for your good (Romans 8:28)
- Everlasting life (John 3:16) which is defined as "know[ing] you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." (John 17:3)
What you are not promised:
A life of ease
How to live this out?
Before we get into a section on doing, remember that the following are not requirements for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9).
That said, these are commanded by God and a life of faith without works is not actually faith (James 2:26).
Works are proof and the fruit that your faith is alive!
- Reading the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- Praying (Matthew 6:9-13)
- Walking with the help of the Holy Spirit(Galatians 5:161)-focus on hearing God and obeying His Word (Matthew 7:24)
- Giving to and receiving from the church (1 Cor 12) https://www.mmlearn.org/hubfs/docs/OneAnotherPassages.pdf
- Making other disciples of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20)
